Listen to the podcast here:

Welcome to the 141th episode of the Wealth Standard Episode! Today, Patrick Donohoe sits down to talk with Jason Hartman and they discuss how technology is changing the way we do business. Jason Hartman is the founder of Platinum Properties Investor Network Inc., a company that helps investors understand local real estate markets thoroughly using their  “Area AgnosticTM” approach.

Jason and Patrick discuss how suburbs, self driving cars, and the changing meaning of commuting might change the real estate market permanently. They also talk about the millennial generation, their preference for cities, and how that might change in the future. As they talk about technology and the convergence of technology and innovation in business, Jason recommends Reality is Broken by Jane McGonigal for interested listeners.

They also discuss what forces are affecting the price of the real estate market right now – and new technologies that might affect them in the future, such as 3D printing. Ultimately, Jason and Patrick both recommend that anyone interested in business always be looking to the future, anticipating the industry, and changing the way that they think so that when the world changes, they can too.

The Cone of Learning – Episode 140

Listen to the podcast here:

Don’t miss the 140th episode of the Wealth Standard Radio, our first episode to be recorded at sea! Join Patrick Donohoe, Ryan Lee, and Brad Gibbs as they talk about their experience at The Summit at Sea, a summit where like minded entrepreneurs and achievers can come together to share ideas and learn from the best.

Tune in as Patrick talks about his biggest takeaway from the conference: “The Cone of Learning”.  This concept was developed by Robert Kiyosaki, the best selling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, and describes the way that different people learn. At the top of the cone (the smallest percentage of people) is reading, with “Do the Real Thing” (real life practice), down at the bottom, representing the highest number of people who learn best that way.

Patrick, Brad, and Ryan talk about how our school systems now expect everyone to learn in the same way – the least common way – by reading, and punish anyone who doesn’t conform. Unfortunately, real life doesn’t conform to the experiences that are taught at school. In real life, there are more than one answers and more than one ways of doing things – unlike on a multiple choice test in school.

Mastermind Groups – Episode 139

Listen to the podcast here:

Welcome to the 139th episode of The Wealth Standard Radio. On this episode, Patrick Donohoe invites Gary Pinkerton, his long time friend, on the show to discuss their recent trip to Dubai! While In Dubai, Gary and Patrick reflected on the 0 to 1 principle, an idea about how startups, innovations, and new technology revolutionize the world in ways that weren’t possible before from Peter Thiel’s book, Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future.

They also discuss the idea behind a Mastermind Group. A mastermind group is a group of like minded people working together to challenge themselves, solve problems, and grow. Even Benjamin Franklin had a mastermind group (although he called it a Junto), a club for mutual improvement that he established among his friends. Whatever you call it, in this modern, connected world, there’s no reason not to have a group of close associates with whom you network with and support.
